Attention Problems in Autism and ADHD

From the perspective of neurodevelopment, visual attention is one of the fundamental aspects of cognition that develops from an early age, and when certain abnormalities appear, even if they are very small, over time they can have a cascading effect on the development of cognitive abilities, including social recognition.

Visual attention plays an integral role in the development of social functioning, through the process of mediating joint attention. We will analyze how attention problems manifest in ADHD and autism, and discuss strategies for increasing attention for both of these disorders.
