First presentation: How to use the Parent Training Manual and create a long-lasting effect

Abstract:

In this workshop, we will briefly discuss the topics of last year topic, part 1: The Top 15 Tools for ABA Parent Training every ABA Provider should know. Mostly we will dive deeper into the parent manual and how you can use to provide effective ABA parent training.

Do you feel like you can make a bigger impact on your learners but don’t know how?

You can dramatically increase the impact of ABA on many learners by using these super-duper essential tools for ABA Parent training. Behavior Technicians and Behavior Analysts can benefit from this workshop.

Many studies show, if caregivers and parents are well-trained in the steps of the Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP), generalization takes place which increases the opportunities for the learner’s progress.

When parents and caregivers are trained in the essential basics of ABA such as prompting and reinforcement procedures, parent training can have a major effect on the learner’s development as shown in research.

In many countries and states, there is not enough funding and/or opportunities for ABA services. By teaching ABA-providers the most essential tools to make ABA Parent Training work, you can make a significant change.

Second presentation: Group Social Skills Training (SST): Run the Best SST groups using ABA Fundamentals

Abstract:

In this workshop, you will learn everything you need to know about training social skills to learners diagnosed with ASD and other developmental delays. As a bonus, you will also get tips on how to run virtual social skills groups.

Multiple studies show that developing social skills in learners with ASD can increase appropriate peer interactions, reduce challenging behaviors, and can increase academic performance. It is crucial for learners diagnosed with ASD, ADHD and developmental delays, to learn age-appropriate social skills to help enhance their overall development. Imperative skills, such as social skills basics (e.g., greeting and sharing) and advanced skills (e.g., reading social cues, maintaining a conversation) can heavily impact a learner’s wellbeing in the community, at school, and at work.

During this workshop, we will focus on how to get started with Social Skills Training (SST) and how to implement social skills training using ABA.

At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able to: (1) Describe the effects of social skills training (2) Explain how to start social skills training including what assessment to use and how to compose individual objectives (3) Describe what social skills to teach (4) Describe and demonstrate the best ABA teaching strategies for training social skills (5) Identify and apply the top 10 most important tools for teaching social skills (6) Describe bonus tips on how to set up a virtual social skills group
