Abstract of the International ABA Conference 2020 presentation.

ABA Parent training: Essential tools for Behavior Analysts and ABA providers

Abstract:

In this workshop you will learn essential tools for parent training. Behavior Technicians and Behavior Analysts can all benefit from this workshop. Developing and implementing a client-specific Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) is crucial for the success of the client progress. If parents/caregivers are trained in the steps of the BIP, generalization takes place and the opportunities for progress are more readily available.

In addition, when parents/caregivers are trained in the essential components of ABA such as prompting and reinforcement procedures, clients can be learning 24/7. This can have a major effect on their development.

In certain countries, learners do not receive sufficient ABA services, due to various reasons. By teaching Behavior Technicians and Behavior Analysts the most effective tools to make ABA parent training work, we can dramatically increase the impact on the learners.

Learning objectives – after this workshop participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the effects of parent/caregiver training
  2. Describe how to motivate parents/caregivers to engage in parent/caregiver training
  3. Identify the essential tools for ABA parent training related to the Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP)
  4. Identify the essential tools for ABA parent training related to the ABA basic strategies

This presentation will be in English.
